Perennial Products

Perennial Product
With the unset of the New Year coming we want to introduce a new category for us, Perennial Product. We will continue to source timeless goods for you but we want to highlight items that, in our opinion, should always be current in a man's wardrobe.
To bring attention to our new concept, we were lucky enough to team up with one of our very best customers who just happens to race Vintage Jags! The juxtaposition of the clothes and the cars was too perfect.
These classic Jags paint the same picture as the clothes. They will be forever timeless.

Welcoming New Brands

October 16, 2017

This Fall we welcomed three new brands to the shop, all of which we have been fans of for a long time!
Indigofera is the first brand we'd like to talk about. Indigofera is made to be worn—no matter if you’re a carpenter, an office worker, biker on the run, a cowboy on the prairie, just a regular guy or all of those and more. Indigofera garments age gracefully with you and get even better with the wear. The fits are heritage inspired and tailored to fit the modern way. Functional clothing for all times.

The Wilson Tee Shirt and Nash Selvedge Denim

The Harvey Tee Shirt

The second new brand is Knowledge Cotton Apparel. The story of Danish menswear brand KnowledgeCotton Apparel began in 1969, when Jørgen Mørup opened a small textile company in the city of Herning. Since the beginning, Jørgen Mørup focused on sustainable principles, and based on his early initiative, KnowledgeCotton Apparel was founded in 2008 by his son Mads Mørup and today, the company has grown into an accomplished international sustainable menswear brand.

The Plain Knit Cardigan

The Striped Organic Cotton Sweater

The Fine Moss Sweater

Last but certainly not least is Velva Sheen. The historic jersey brand of choice among the US Marine Corps, the Ohio-based brand continues to produce the kind of timeless basics that no wardrobe can be without. Staying true to their American roots, each piece is manufactured within the USA to the same exacting standards that the label was founded on in 1932.

The Malibu Recreation Tee and Pullover Hoodie

Shop favorite, Pullover Hoodie in Oatmeal!

NORTH Fall '16

October 13, 2016

North Fall '16 is a collection of classic essentials all made in Los Angeles. The collection comprises of 4 timeless pieces:

Its a perfect broken in denim jacket based on a vintage type 3 but cleaned up and simplified. Followed by a classic CPO Shirt Jacket with an incredible dead stock fabric that once you touch it, you'll have to have it. Then we've got our chambray shirt, which we simplified so its a little less workwear and a little more versatile. You can wear it so many ways. And finally our chinos, which we worked hard on the fit of these pants. They've got a touch of a higher raise for comfort and then we really spent time on the taper of the leg and in my opinion we achieved a perfect fit for a chino. The great thing about the collection is you can literally wear all the pieces together; each compliments one another well and that was my intention.

Saline by Stefan Junir

June 07, 2016

The ocean has been a constant in my life. An ever present source of vitality, a safe heaven where all worries melt away, a joyful exit from the day to day and a consistent inspiration.
John F. Kennedy said it well:
"I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it's because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and ships change, it's because we all came from the sea. And it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came."
Local photographer, Stefan Junir, captured some incredible "Saline" images on film recently and was nice enough to share with us.

Versatile Staples

September 24, 2015

There is something to be said about good staples in clothing. Every guy needs them. They are the building blocks of a well put together man. Here we wanted to highlight a great pair of jeans and a great oxford. Both are a must have and can be worn so many ways. Below you will find five looks all with the same oxford and same pair of jeans.
*Keep it casual*
Throw on your favorite jeans, white tee and oxford. Pair it all with a classic ball cap and white sneakers. Wear it to the park with your kids or to a lunch with friends...EASY!
- Hat, North Ebbets Ball Cap
- Sunglasses, Garrett Leight Angelus
- Tee, North Shop Pocket Tee
- Oxford, Taylor Stitch Everyday Oxford
- Jeans, Imogene+Willie Barton
- Watch, Techne Merlin 245
- Sneakers, Converse Jack Purcell
*Everyday wear*
This is pretty much what we wear daily. Very slight change from the first look but still a totally new look. Button the shirt up, change the sneakers for a pair of Chukka boots and swap the sunglasses for a metal frame...its that easy!!
- Sunglasses, Garrett Leight Van Buren
- Tee, North Shop Pocket Tee
- Oxford, Taylor Stitch Everyday Oxford
- Jeans, Imogene+Willie Barton
- Watch, Techne Merlin 245
- Boots, Red Wing Heritage Classic Chukka 3137
*Fit for the Office*
Lose the tee and tuck the in the shirt. Grab a nice belt and a pair of oxford shoes and you are ready to walk into the office.
- Oxford, Taylor Stitch Everyday Oxford
- Jeans, Imogene+Willie Barton
- Watch, Techne Merlin 245
-Belt, Apolis Hoofpick Belt
- Shoes, Red Wing Postman 3104
Soon the weather will cool off and your oxford becomes a great layering piece. We love it paired with a vintage military jacket and a navy watch cap. A little reminiscent of the post Vietnam style.
- Watch Cap, Krochet Kids
- Tee, North Shop Pocket Tee
- Oxford, Taylor Stitch Everyday Oxford
- Jeans, Imogene+Willie Barton
- Boots, Red Wing Heritage Classic Moc Toe 875
*Dressed Up*
Every now and again you've got to get a little dressed up. It can still be easy. Same oxford. Same jeans. Put on a navy blazer with a classic tie and some nice oxfords or wing tips. Now, you're ready for the party.
- Sunglasses, Garrett Leight Lincoln
- Blazer and tie, my old favorites from college..HA!
- Oxford, Taylor Stitch Everyday Oxford
- Jeans, Imogene+Willie Barton
-Belt, Apolis Hoofpick Belt
- Shoes, Red Wing Postman 3104

A Generation That Will Never Be Repeated

August 14, 2015

We all revere the heroic men of the Second World War. They stood up for what they believed in and were not afraid to take action to fight for their beliefs. Tough and strong, they did what they said and said what they meant.
Plain and simple, they were the brave ones.
Edward Cunningham was strong in every sense of the word. He was not afraid of anything, and not in an arrogant way but in a matter of fact kind of way. When you come from a generation that faced the Great Depression and then survive 25 missions of bombing German submarines — I suppose little rattles you.

Having a man like that in your life certainly is impactful. It changes your outlook on life. Impressing an older sensibility gained from years of listening to stories and looking at the photos of how it once was.

North Menswear speaks loudly to Edward Cunningham's influence. If you really look and break down the products we select, it's what our grandfathers wore. Selvedge denim. Chambray shirts. Pocket tees. Boots. We could go on.

It's not about trends but timeless apparel that meets function. These items have stood the test of time for a reason and we can thank our grandfathers for that.
